Valentino Rock n Rose
This is another of my favourite scents. Don't worry, I'll soon run out of favourites and have to start seeking out new ones to review, at which time I will make my sister's dressing table my first port of call. That'll be a cheap way to review new fragrances. It's Valentino's Rock n Rose. Let's start with the facts.
Top Notes: bergamot, blackcurrant, crisp green leaves and muguet
Heart Notes: rose, gardenia, orange blossom
Base Notes: sandalwood, heliotrope, orris, vanilla and musky notes
Before I say anything else, I have to admit I have no idea what muguet or heliotrope are. Orris is a mystery too. And I am not going to Google them until I've finished writing this blog.
On first sniff, I definitely pick up the rose and vanilla. Everything else is lost on me. It's a flowery fragrance and very feminine. I only ever wear this perfume when I am wearing something pink but want to feel a bit more edgy. That's what I do, I choose my fragrance based on what I am wearing and who I want to be that day.
This was given to me as a gift from my husband in January 2009. I had asked for it as a Christmas present but Santa didn't bring it the previous month so when I had a major fallout with a friend my beloved cheered me up with this. It was part of a gift set with the matching body lotion.
Fragrances are only supposed to last three years maximum but this one goes off pretty quick. The smell doesn't change too much but the colour changes substantially. That would be my only criticism. Well, that and the fact that I can't pick up on the majority of the scents that are supposedly in there. Crisp green leaves? Really? I thought I got a whiff of lettuce...
